The color that revolutionized the soles of women all over the world.
The signature red sole of a Louboutin has — since the brand’s inception in the 1990s — gotten women walking, skipping, marching, and stomping in its highly identifiable red-bottomed stilettos. Christian Louboutin, the one behind it all, has undoubtedly contributed to bringing the stiletto back into contemporary fashion.
His brand has maintained its esteemed luxury brand status for years and benefited greatly by growing alongside and riding the wave of the Asian wealth boom. Thus, it should come as no surprise as yet another brand-new, sparkling Louboutin store opens up on Chinese shores.
China — the second-largest luxury goods market in the world after the United States — now boasts a total of seven Louboutin stores. With three in Hong Kong, two in Shanghai, one in Beijing, and one in Shenyang, this is surely a feat that the Chinese luxury scene can be proud of.
Tonight, at Shanghai’s high-end IFC mall, fans, devotees and media gathered together in high anticipation of the famed designer’s arrival. Mingling over champagne and given the opportunity to browse the latest men’s and women’s collections from the wildly successful brand, guests waited with bated breath for Christian Louboutin’s grand entrance.
His arrival caused quite a stir of paparazzi frenzy. The crowd pushed towards him, eager to catch a close glimpse of the man himself. Following Chinese tradition, two red dragonhead performers entertained the audience with a lively fortune dance. To properly close the ceremony, Mr. Louboutin marked the dragons with a Chinese calligraphy paintbrush.
The new Louboutin store in IFC showcased the brand’s classic colors, as well as an assortment of eye-popping tones. Bejeweled with rhinestones, or proudly featuring studs and embroideries, we felt that there simply were not enough shoes on display.
Then again, when do we ever feel like are there enough Louboutins?
